Thought I would send you a couple pictures of the dogs, so you can see how they have turned out. Max has turned out to be quite a good watch dog. When we work with the horses and if one gets frisky he gets himself in between us and the horse. We get comments all the time about how well behaved they are.....we just laugh and tell each other that the dogs make us look really good, because we only taught them the basics!!

My name is Cameo and I live in California. I own a male german shepherd named Lenga's Von Deuces Wild. He is a great grandson of your Black Magic's Leo and Black Magic's Good Karma. He just turned one year old on November 9th and we couldnt be happier with him. We love his size (the vet weighed him in at 102 lbs at his OFA prelim xrays last week) and he is absolutely beautiful (we may be a little biased). But I want to commend you on the dogs you breed and thank you because without you we wouldnt have our wonderful Deuce. I attached some pictures of him so you can see how beautiful he is. The one of him laying down with his favorite toy (soccer ball) is him at 7 months. The other ones he is 11 months old. Enjoy!
I hope you don't mind that we changed Midnight's name. We have had so much fun with her, she is so smart and funny. I can not believe she was already housetrained. Our older dog Kira has finally accepted her in to the "pack" ha! Anyway I will get back to you soon , I have attached some pictures!

Here's a note about a Leo son, Black Magic's California Dreamin, and Leo grandpuppies (Emmett and Ruari).
Hi Wendy:
Just thought I'd send this photo to you of some of Leo's progeny.
I say we purchased (although they own us) our oldest GSD from Katheryn - who owns California Dreamin in March of 2004. He was just so perfect from day one that when Katheryn told me she had another litter ready in October from the same parents we couldn't pass up the chance to get a little sister for Emmett. Emmett will be one year next week and Ruari will be 5 months on the 20th of this month. They are such a great addition to the family and remind me of the GSD's I grew up with and loved.
Whatever you and Katheryn are doing is right. I have seen dogs from 4 different litters of California Dreamin and they are all spectacular.
So thanks Wendy, for these beautiful dogs and such treasured members of our family.

“Here ya go...one of Elijah laying down and one of him standing. I am 5"7' and his ears hit me at the waist. He is gaining weight and is back up to about 117. He is still growing of course.
“Gotta tell you what this giant dog did a couple weeks ago. We went up to Burney Falls for the day and took him with us. I will email you a pic of him up there....Anyway, there were kids there climbing around on the rocks and stuff. Elijah decided they should not be too near the water so he appointed himself their guardian. He walked the edge of the water and gently got between the kids and the edge. It was amazing! He never got rough, he just walked up to them and stood between them and that freezing water. The parents were amazed (one even decided to buy a pup from us!). It was really cool. This dog has the most amazing temperament I have ever seen. Later, My kids went across the water to climb the sides of the falls. I walked around the lake to get a good picture of them at the top. Elijah walked with me and it was so dang cute. He was climbing around the rocks at the same pace I was. He would not go ahead or behind me. If I stopped, he stopped. When I walked, he walked. I was so tickled that I started stopping abruptly to see if he was really paying attention to me. Sure enough, no matter what I did he stayed right beside me.
“He has had his second litter, and again two pups were rated as having the drive and temperament to go into service. I kept the pick male. I will send you pics of him in a couple days. 8 weeks old and already fetches and walks at heel. Beautiful too. Very dark in color, but with a short coat. The other highly rated dog went to a woman in Chico who does search and rescue. She bought him for her husband, but called me today and talked about how dang smart this guy is. She is thinking about putting him in service.
“Lilly is great. (an Ali daughter, Laila's sister) She is also one smart cookie. She is the prettiest Blacks I have ever seen. She was also with us at Burney Falls. I took her off her lead and she followed every command without a hitch. She was amazing to be only 4 months old and dealing so well with all those people. I did not have to correct her one time.
“Of course, you know, we were the hit of the day cuz we had these amazing German Shepherds!”

Black Magic's Allie and Black Magic's Winnie
Hi Wendy,
“The two females we got from you are doing great. Beth and her Allie are the star pupils of their obedience class. Allie is always fun to watch as her tail is going constantly. Beth is so great with her and she has advanced to off leash work. Abigail and her Winnie are at the same level, but move a bit slower. Abigail adores her dog and they seem to understand each other very well.
“Let me know about a future female and I'll be sure to get some photos to e-mail you. You did such a wonderful job picking Allie for Beth that I have no hesitation trusting you to pick a sweetie for my next daughter Salem.
“This is a photo of the dogs with my youngest(The house is under remodeling so it's kind of a mess.). The dogs are great with him. We take the dogs everywhere and get so many compliments.
“Also my dog trainer (Denise) says that we are spoiled with the dogs that we have. She hasn't seen such wonderful German Shepherds in a long time. She used to have one, but the dog was so much of a hassle she finally gave it away and switched to Gordon Setters. There was another G.S. in the last class and what a difference between it and ours. Beth and Allie are the stars of the class and Denise calls Allie "The Queen."

Hi Wendy,
“Here are a couple of photos of Isaac at 8 months, 95 lbs. We are wondering, how much larger will he grow? We are very careful with his tender bones, not to demand running, etc. from him so his hips can develop. His temperament has calmed down incredibly since about 5 months of age, and now he's just so calm and sweet, no nipping, no biting, and loves to be around me all the time. He follows me around all day long.
“Of course, he is just a puppy and loves to play, but noticed that he's much more gentle than some of the other dogs in our neighborhood. He is also the quiet one in the neighborhood, while others bark at anything, even people they know, Isaac just watches and selects the appropriate time to bark. Amazing.”

“We named our dog Black Magic's Jake (Though perhaps we should have called him Prince Charming), Since it's been about a year I thought I'd send you some pictures of him.
“He's nearly full grown. He weighs 95-100lbs but the bones in his ankles haven't completely fixed together so he's still growing a little bit and I'm sure he'll fill out more. He's a wonderful dog and has an outstanding temperament. He and I have really bonded and I constantly get compliments on his behavior and appearance. He's gorgeous!
“He's so loving and loyal. Whenever we take naps outside he always has to be touching me in some manner, either with his paws on my arm or his head resting on me. He's a wonderful, wonderful dog. Thank you so much for breeding these incredible dogs and I'm thankful to have had the chance to own one.”

“Bear has now been to Kinderpuppy and is a star. He is happy, active, not scared or dependent. As my daughter Amy said, he is so happy that he makes everyone around him feel that joy. That is true. He is exceptional.
“Even Amy spoke of his sense of self confidence. I would be more than happy to write about it because it is so clear about him and is the major characteristic that makes him exceptional.
“It is so interesting that whenever Bear and I are waiting any place, people always gravitate to him. In the vet hospital, even the 18 year old cat wanted to meet Bear as well as the 4 or 5 different sets of dogs. He is fabulous. Even the relatively under-stated vet said, “You know he is really cute and so personable.” Thank you so much again for all the help. You have created such exceptional dogs and I am grateful to be the blessed owner of one.”

“Kona is doing VERY well and is, by far, the most intelligent dog we've ever owned! She was the head of her class at dog obedience school and was almost bored because it all came so easy for her.
“She's been a BIG help in keeping our other two dogs (Boxer and Golden Retriever) active and even has helped the retriever to lose some weight, which is great! (Kona is 98 pounds now!)
“Kona is a very spoiled girl... loves living outside with her "brother" and "sister" but also enjoys being a house guest from time to time. She really loves her kitties... one outside cat and two indoor cats. In fact, she and the outdoor cat, Puffer, are best of friends. Kona saved Puffer's life three months ago when Puffer was attacked by another dog, so Puffer sticks close now!

“Wendy I can't tell you how SMART and SWEET Cheyenne is. She is growing so fast. I can't pick her up any more. She has the sweetest personality you ever saw. I tell her something only once and she minds beautifully. She loves to play and run and with 30 acres she is all over the place. If I call her she immediately minds me. Just got her last shot today - the vet can't believe how beautiful she is. And as you said her ears stand STRAIGHT UP.

“I know you say that you raise your puppies for a good and reliable temperament but I had it recently put to the ultimate test. I thought I would share this story...
As you know Max is about 1 1/2 years old right now and is training in Search and Rescue. We recently did a Elementary School exhibit during a Safety Fair. Max was pretty much there just for show. He had kids in his face, petting him and hugging him non stop, playing with the tags on his collar, etc... (this to me alone says great things about his temperament).
I turned my back for a mere second to speak to a Parent and heard Max yelp very loudly. I turned around to see a toddler with a pair of scissors in their hand and Max's ear bleeding. Turns out the toddler snuck up on him while he was sleeping and clipped his ear. Not a mark on this child!!! Here this stranger snuck up on him in a dead sleep and hurt him and his reaction was to run to me. I was very proud of him. His ear is fine and it was a pretty superficial wound but bled profusely. But still, I am very proud of him and the knowledge that even when a child misbehaves badly, he is that good natured and stable.”
